Meet the Latest Couples

Jordanna and Alex

He’s into making movies and she’s into having a good time with family and friends.  This was one of those weddings that you feel fortunate to be a part of and help everyone get ready for the big event.  They were married in Sacramento at a private residence.  Picture lights hung from the trees, splashes of color everywhere to help make it magical, and throw in a little adventure and you are at their wedding.

They were surrounded by family and friends, both local and from overseas.  And everyone was invited to experience an Indian Jones type of adventure.  The wedding theme provided such a fun ambiance, as did the location.  I was ecstatic to be a part of such a fun, special, and memorable day.  This couple is fantastic, and they soaked up every minute of the day.  The photos show how much fun they had.  All of the photography was done by Jessica Giblin.  Check out her amazing photography skills at: http://www.jessicagiblinphotography.com/ or her blog at: http://jgiblin.wordpress.com/

Annie and Scotty...also known as Ag and Sg.

Annie and Scotty

Annie and her dad

Annie and Scotty were married in Tahoe, at Northstar Resort.  It was an absolutely beautiful wedding where simplicity and style were mixed in perfectly.  The natural setting welcomed friends and family to participate in this marriage.  They had special touches like the arrival of the bridal party descending down the mountain on the chair-lifts, games, and they highlighted several people who supported them and mentored them during their dating and engagement.  It was a personal ceremony, and they mixed in their fun personalities effectively.  I loved working with Annie on her makeup.  She wanted something simple and easy, and trusted me to make it to happen.  I love that she chose natural lashes…they pulled it all together perfectly.  It’s that simplicity and stylish element again.  She and Scotty looked fabulous, and it was obvious how excited everyone invited was to support this marriage.  I hope their next year in Boston is fabulous.  What a great day!

Their wedding was photographed by Peter Thomsen photography.  The photography team did such a wonderful job capturing Annie and Scotty’s personality.  I highly recommend them.  Check out the slideshow from this wedding by clinking this link: http://www.peterthomsen.com/slideshows/anniescottWED/ OR go directly to the website: http://www.peterthomsen.com
You will not be disappointed.  Good photographers are essential on the day of your wedding, and this team captures the personality of the couples they are working with…truly a great gift.

Kristin and Ben

I was very excited to work with Kristin.  She and I met a a few months before her wedding at her house in San Francisco.  She was so prepared for our preview, and our time flew by as we discussed what look she wanted for her wedding.  She had torn out some photos from bridal magazines so she could show me exactly how she wanted to look.  I remember Kristin had torn out 3 separate pages.  Each one had a different element she wanted to incorporate into her look.  She is very casual in her every day life and so we worked to put a look together that would be natural and somewhat whimsical as she was wearing a vintage style dress.

On the day of her wedding, I met her at the house she and her bridesmaids were to get ready for the wedding.  She had a group of friends that were so fun and welcoming.  I showed up at the end of their brunch and they readily welcomed me in to join them.  You could tell how excited they were for Kristin and they enthusiastically finished their brunch so we could get started.

Kristin and Ben were married in the mountains just below Santa Cruz.  It was an outdoor wedding, in the late afternoon, and it was to have an evening reception.  The look we had put together for Kristin had only one change, we darkened her lip color after the ceremony.  Her sisters and friends were more than willing to do touch ups throughout the evening as I left the necessary supplies behind for them.
The wedding was beautiful and I was so excited to receive the photos a few weeks later.  Photographer: Melanie Duerkopp

Cristin and Jake

I met with with Cristin a few days before her wedding so we could do her preview.  She was finishing up her graduate degree in Boston up until her wedding and so we had spoken on the phone and had contact through email in the months leading up to her wedding.  Meeting with Cristin was a very relaxed event.  We met and had coffee as we discussed her wedding, her dress, her theme, and her desired look.  She wanted to look elegant, but admitted she was not one of the women in this world who owned much makeup.  Since she wore makeup on very rare occasions, we decided her best option would be a more natural look; however, we would use liquid eyeliner and add lashes as this would dramatically change her look.

Cristin and Jake had a black and white wedding in San Francisco.  It was on December 30th, and their thought was to provide a huge party where all their friends would come together for their wedding and then be able to spend New Year’s Eve together as well.  Their wedding was very classy and elegant, a funny contrast to the setting where they first met.  Cristin and Jake met as camp counselors in 2001 at a camp in the Santa Cruz mountains.  They were friends over the years they counseled together.  They both found themselves teaching at an outdoor science school a few years later, and this is where they began their relationship.

Their elegant wedding brought together a varied group of guests.  Many were from all over the country as they had both gone to college out of state.  Cristin had promised it would be a fun gathering of friends who would dance the night away, and it truly was such an event.

Friska and Brent

She’s from Perth in Australia and he is from the U.S.  They had their wedding in Perth with all her friends and family, and then came back to Southern California.  Their photo session took place in Venice Beach.  They were up for the fun of re-enacting what it was like on their wedding day on the other side of the world.  Plus, she got to wear her dress twice this way!

Friska and I spoke about the look she wanted for these photos, and she decided that it would be best for her to look natural and carefree.  She loved the beach setting and its simplicity and wanted her makeup to reflect the natural environment.  Check out the photos below that show off how much fun she and Brent had.  I hear they’re moving back to Australia this year too!  All the photos below are by Eric Lennstrom.
